Week 14 | Accessibility and technology

Writer: zeyad kenawizeyad kenawi

A great example of a person who makes accessible technology for people with disabilities is Ivan Bakaidov - a Russian programmer with cerebral palsy. To be able to speak, he needs speech synthesizer. His LINKa project aims to help people with various disabilities to communicate freely. Their apps include apps for people who are able to use a regular keyboard, those who can only use one button on a keyboard, those for people who can click on large letters on the screen of their tablet and those for people who can only use pictures to communicate. This project aims to develop free apps for people with various disabilities to give them an opportunity to use technology - for example people with cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorders and people with speech disorders, such as after brain injury or stroke.
