Writer: zeyad kenawizeyad kenawi

Nowadays the genre of Real-time chat is very famous in different ways and forms and it has always been like that since the creation of the Internet. Humans are social creatures and want to be always in contact. They used many ways in the past and it evolved in a very fast way recently. They used Homing pigeon, telegraf till Whatsapp and telegram. The impact instant messaging made in this genre is huge. For the first time a man can send messages to another man instantly without any delays and receive answer at the same time. It started with the good old Unix with a chat program called Talk. People could chat in the Unix terminal about issues with the OS and other tech stuff. But hackers or pranksters exploited the talk protocol using a program called flash to send commands to the recipient ruining his day. It was replaced with IRC. It has opened the space for group discussions as well as two partners conversation. It has started with weak security measures same as everything in the internet so it was a place for DDOS attacks and hackers to exploit it but it has changed for the better and included encryption at its modern state. This helped to maintain this technology and gave it a chance to live and it's still used by Opera browser. With the revolution of smartphones and having internet connection inside our phones applications came up with it but WhatsApp was the most famous one and it's still famous by now. But it lost some of its popularity for other apps like Telegram with free and easy to manage cloud for files saved and more privacy and security measures and good reputation compared to the bad reputation of Facebook who owned WhatsApp at the end.

That was a quick look at this awesome technology that impacted our lives forever.
